Quetta Voice Report:

QUETTA: Salih Guljamal, a Turkish drilling operator who was abducted during a deadly assault on a mining site in Balochistan’s Chaghi district, has been safely recovered and reunited with his family after nearly two harrowing months in captivity.
According to police sources, Guljamal was secured by law enforcement personnel a few days ago in the Mastung district. Following his rescue, he was immediately moved under tight security to the provincial capital, Quetta. After the completion of necessary legal protocols and official formalities, he was flown out to Türkiye on Wednesday.
While the safe return of the foreign national has brought immense relief, official circles have chosen to remain tight-lipped regarding the exact details, negotiations, or mechanics that led to his successful recovery.
The Backstory: A Deadly Ambush
The nightmare began on April 22, 2026, in the remote Daregwan area of Chaghi. Armed militants launched a massive, coordinated attack on a mining site operated by National Resources Limited (NRL).
The assault was brutal, claiming the lives of at least 10 people—including three security guards, six local laborers, and another Turkish drilling operator. Amidst the chaos of the ambush, Guljamal was taken hostage by the attackers, triggering a multi-agency search operation that lasted weeks.
The incident had raised serious security alarms regarding the safety of foreign experts and local workers driving Balochistan’s crucial mining sector. While Guljamal’s safe release marks a positive breakthrough, questions surrounding the heightened security of mineral-rich zones across the province remain at the forefront.
