News Desk: Pakistan’s air defence system shot down eight drones after they entered the country’s airspace from Afghanistan on Wednesday morning, security sources said.
According to the sources, four drones were intercepted near the Torkham border, while four others were brought down in mountainous areas adjoining Kohat.
The Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force successfully intercepted all eight drones, foiling an alleged attempt to target public places in Pakistan, the sources said.
The development comes amid heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Security sources said Pakistani forces had also targeted several Afghan Taliban positions in the Kurram sector in response to firing from across the border.
The sources further alleged that the drone intrusion reflected continued support for terrorists operating against Pakistan from Afghan territory.
