Wheel jam strike observed against Mangi Dam incident
Daulat Khan, Sardar Khondai, Asmat Hanafi:
A wheel jam strike was observed in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan against the Mangi Dam Ziarat incident on Sunday. The protesters blocked the main highways linking Quetta with Chaman, Zhob, Ziarat, Loralai, and other areas of Balochistan.
Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai, the Convener Pashtoon Jirga had given the call of a wheel-jam strike against the incident. Three levies personnel were martyred in a landmine explosion in Balochistan’s Ziarat district two weeks ago.
A banned militant organization had claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Highways were giving a deserted look because of the wheel jam strike throughout the day. However, the protesters opened highways after 4 pm on Sunday. Long queues of vehicles and trucks could be witnessed on highways. The flow of traffic was also thin in Quetta and its suburbs because of the wheel jam strike.
The participants of the sit-in have demanded of the Balochistan government to arrest the culprits involved in the martyrdom of the levies personnel.
Balochistan Home Minister, Ziaullah Langove and other government ministers and advisers held a series of negotiations with protesters to end their protest. However, they are yet to convince the protesters till the filling of this report. The protesters have wanted of intensifying their protest if the government failed to address their demands.
