QUETTA: Senator Sarfaraz Bugti of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) here on Sunday said talks were still underway with angry party members. “Within BAP, we will address this issue”, Mr. Bugti told reporters in Quetta.
Earlier, some channels quoted Sarfaraz Bugti that the grievances of angry members were addressed. This prompted Mr. Bugti to issue a clarification in this regard. “We are trying to convince angry members”, he clarified.
“Surely, no-confidence motion on the part of opposition parties will fail”, the BAP leader said when asked about the opposition’s move. Serious differences erupted within the ruling party after 16 members submitted a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan on September 16.
The opposition has 23 lawmakers in Balochistan Assembly
Mr. Bugti stated that with 23 members, the opposition’s no-confidence motion cannot succeed.
Over a dozen BAP members including finance minister Zahoor Buledi, speaker Qudoos Bizenjo, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Muhammad Khan Lehri, Bushra Rind, and others revolted against the CM.
The BAP reconciliatory committee headed by the Chairman of Senate Sadiq Sanjrani held a series of meetings with CM Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan and angry party members. So far, no formal breakthrough has been made.
