Balochistan government withdraws FIR against students

Balochistan government has withdrawn the First Information Report (FIR) registered against 75 students on Saturday. Students were booked for entering the Red Zone and inflicting damages to public property.
“No action would be taken against the students”, Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan took to Twitter and announced the withdrawal of the FIR. He asked the students to contact the Commissioner Quetta Division in this regard. “Due to some reasons, the matter was not dealt with properly”, Jam Kamal stated.
Students from various districts of Balochistan have been protesting against the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). The protesting students demand the cancellation of tests conducted by PMC for entry into the medical colleges of the country.
Court orders release of students
Balochistan government’s decision of withdrawing FIR has come after a court in Quetta granted bail to the arrested students and ordered their release.
“Students have to be in class not in jail”, Liaquat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan said. He said the government has withdrawn FIR and taken up the issue with the federal government.
However, students have announced to temporarily halt their protest. “We will resume the protest soon”, one of the protesters told Quetta Voice. He said the Balochistan government has assured to address the grievances of students.
Students lash out at the Balochistan government
The students have lashed out at the Balochistan government for what they claim its silence over their ongoing protest. “CM Balochistan should speak to the federal government and resolve our issue”, Wali Khan, a protesting student demanded. He claimed the PMC paper was out of the course and termed it the underlying reason behind the ongoing protest.
The Spokesman government of Balochistan thus assured that the matter was already taken up with the PMC and other concerned quarters. He said the government would make all possible efforts to address the grievances of the protesters.
Quetta city has witnessed the worst traffic jam as a result of the ongoing protest in the city.
