PDM Chief accuses Govt of rigging next general elections

QUETTA: Chief of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has accused the present federal government of preparing a plan to rig the next general elections. “Opposition would resist every move of the rulers”, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman told a crowded news conference here on Tuesday.
The PDM Chief announced the formation of a legal team comprising Senator Kamran Murtaza and Nazeer Tarar to review all aspects of recent legislation done in the national assembly. “We will challenge this in the court”, he announced. He reiterated that all opposition political parties were committed to countering every kind of legislation undermining the supremacy of parliament and the constitution.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the Chief of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Dr. Malik Baloch, the Chief of National Party (NP), Dr. Jehanzaib Jamaldini of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal), and other leaders of the anti-government alliance were also present on the occasion.
PDM is set to hold a public meeting in Quetta tomorrow
He said the government adjourned the assembly session after losing the majority in the national assembly. The anti-government alliance is all set to hold a public meeting in Quetta on November 17 at Ayub Stadium. Leaders of all mainstream opposition parties have arrived in Quetta to address the public meeting.
When asked about PDM component parties’ support to Chief Minister Balochistan Quddus Bizenjo, he said the province has special political status and because of that, they (PDM parties) had supported a change of the CM.
He however mentioned that JUIF and other component parties of the opposition decided not to be part of the provincial government. “It was our principle decision not to be part of the government”, he added.

Regarding meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he said all opposition parties had determined to get rid of what he called ‘illegitimate government. He lashed out at the government for the continued decline of the rupee against the dollar. “Rulers have pushed the people towards the wall”, he said.
Maulana Fazal ur Rehman stated that recent inflation has snatched the power of purchase from the common man. “People are fed up with inflation”, the PDM Chief said.
