QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday warned that the number of coronavirus patients is likely to be increased by the end of April. The Premier arrived Quetta on Thursday to review arrangements with regard to the coronavirus in Balochistan. Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan received the Prime Minister at the airport.
“Increase in the number of patients will have a burden on hospitals”, the Prime Minister said. He however said Balochistan may not face any difficult situation because of its sparse population.
The Prime Minister briefed about the ongoing steps taken by the Balochistan government to contain the coronavirus in the province. Governor Balochistan, Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yaseenzai, Commander Southern Command, Lieutenant General Waseem Ashraf, federal ministers Asad Umar, Zubaid Jalal and other high ups were also present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister directed the provincial government to step up efforts for the provision of foodstuff to deserving, needy and poor people in the society. However, Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan told the premier that a comprehensive program was launched by his government to support the deserving people. He also directed the concerned quarters to provide personal protective equipment to doctors battling the novel coronavirus in the province.
Earlier, the Prime Minister visited the quarantine center established in Quetta. Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Qasim Sori and Balochistan education minister Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind also accompanied the prime minister during the visit. Security has been tightened in the city and huge contingents of police have been deployed on all important routes to maintain the order.
