Dust storms hit Quetta, Pishin, Mastung Chaman districts of Balochistan

Dust and storms have hit Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Chaman, Mastung and other districts of Balochistan on Monday night. Strong winds paralyzed life in the provincial capital and other parts of the province. “An injured person has been brought to the hospital”, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman of civil hospital Quetta said.

Mr. Baig said an emergency has been declared in the hospital to tackle any situation in the aftermath of the dust and storms in the city. Senior doctors and paramedical staff called to the emergency ward to meet any emergency situation. An ancient tree was also fallen in civil hospital Quetta. Rescue workers and officials of the metropolitan corporation Quetta reached the spot to tackle the situation.

Power supply from 22 power feeders suspended

Continued dust and storms caused the suspension of power supply to most parts of the provincial capital and other parts of the province. Dust and storms affected 22 electricity feeders in Quetta city. “We are trying to fix the issue and restore power supply”, Afzal Baloch, the Spokesman of the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) said.

“No power supply for the last two hours”, Najeeb Ahmed, a resident of the Almo Chowk said. Routine life was severely affected by the power breakdown. However, Mr. Baloch, the Spokesman of QESCO stated that the power supply to most parts of Quetta was restored by technical teams.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued a high alert in Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Mastung and other parts of the province. “All staff members have been placed on high alert”, a statement issued by the authority said.

Quetta receives rain

Quetta city also received rainfall on Monday evening. The weather turned pleasant in and around Quetta after rainfall. Citizens also heaved a sigh of relief after the rainfall during the sacred month of Ramazan ul Mubarak.
