QUETTA: The death toll in rains and floods-related incidents rose to 136 as rescue workers found 9 more dead bodies across Balochistan on Sunday. 47 children 33 women and 56 men are among the dead.
Pak Army, Frontier Corps, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and civil administration have launched a massive combined rescue and relief operation in flood-affected areas of Balochistan.
Over 13000 houses damaged
Floods have also damaged over 13,000 mud-walled houses in Quetta, Pishin, Jaffarabad, Khuzdar, Kohlu, Barkhan, Lasbela, and Jhal Magsi districts of Balochistan. “We are trying hard to reach all flood-affected people”, Mr. Nasar said.
Flash floods unleashed by heavy rainfall also caused the suspension of train service between Pakistan and Iran. Floods washed away various portions of railway track between the two countries, an official of the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department said. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.
Floods destroyed standing crops on over 2,00000 acres of land in various parts of Balochistan. Torrential rains also destroyed dates crops in the Panjgur district of Balochistan.
ISPR gives details about rescue and relief operations
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said that thousands of people have been rescued in floods-affected areas of Balochistan.
Jhal Magsi
Complete connectively of Gandhawa has been restored. No isolated area in Gandhawa and its surroundings. Relief activities are underway. Army Medical Camp treated 115 patients.
Khuzdar: M-8 is still cut off. Work on the resumption of connectivity is underway. Field Medical Camp established by CMH Khuzdar and FC in Hafizabad treated 145 affected people.
Naseerabad
No rain throughout the day. Relief activities are underway for the affected population of Babakot & Gandakha.
Ration and cooked food were distributed to flood victims. Field Medical Camp in Gandakha treated various patients.
Chaman: No rain in Chaman. Bab e Dosti is fully functional.
