People faced difficulties in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan in the acquisition of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) after the suspension of the Gas supply. Flash floods swept away gas pipelines and power supply pylons in Bolan district of Balochistan.
“No gas supply, and there is also a shortage of LPG in the city”, Nisar Khan, a resident of Nawakilli told Daily Quetta Voice.
The Chief Minister Balochistan also took notice of the shortage of the LPG and directed the administration to take steps to ensure the availability. “The price of LPG per Kg is Rs 500”, Shah Hussain Tareen, a local journalist claimed.
Floods swept away gas pipelines in Bolan
The floods have swept away 12 and 24 inches of Gas pipelines near Bibi Nani bridge, Bolan area of Balochistan the other day. The gas supply to Quetta city from Zarghoon also stoped due to the flood situation. The Bibi Nani bridge collapsed due to continuoued rainfall in Bolan, and masses are facing difficulties as gas and power supply suspended to most parts of Balochistan. “We are forced to purchase food with high prices from hotels”, Mr. Tareen lamented.
The teams of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) are already present in the affected areas to restore the gas supply. Due to the extra ordinary flow of flood waves we are not able to use our equipment and machinery in repairing the gas pipelines, an official of the SSGC said.
No gas supply for the last 72 hours in Quetta
Quetta and most parts of the Balochistan are deprived of the gas supply from the last 72 hours. The citizens are facing problems in cooking food and it has completely paralyzed life in Quetta city, Mastung, Pishin, Ziarat and other areas of the province.
Long queues of the people purchasing the LPG were also witnessed in almost all parts of the city. People demanded of the district administration to take strict action against the elements involved in the increasing of the LPG prices.
