Ziarat, Kan Mehtarzai and other parts of Balochistan received heavy snowfall on Wednesday morning. According to reports, Ziarat, Kan Mehtarzai, Toba Achakzai, Toba Kakarai and other parts of Balochistan received heavy snowfall.
Chilly weather prevails in most of Balochistan after snowfall and people are confined to their homes. In Ziarat, people complained about no gas supply in chilly weather. “Women and children facing problems because of chilly weather”, Muhammad Yaqoob, a resident of Kawas Ziarat told Daily Quetta Voice via telephone. He said, “White carpet on mountains and the ancient juniper trees”.
PDMA deploys machinery at all sensitive points
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) deployed its machinery across all snowfall areas to ensure the flow of traffic. “Technical staff and machinery deployed at all sensitive points”, Naseer Ahmed Nasar, the Director-General of PDMA said. Mr. Nasar however said there was no blockade of raod throughout the province after heavy snowfall.
PDMA men are also put on high alert to tackle any situation after heavy snowfall and rainfall. The Balochistan government has also directed the deputy commissioners of 12 districts to put all departments on high alert to meet any emergency situation because of changing weather conditions in the province.
Quetta under the grip of cold weather
Quetta and various parts of Balochistan received rainfall in the wee hours of Wednesday. Most parts of Balochistan remained under the grip of chilly weather. People in Quetta complained about low and no gas pressure. “No gas pressure since morning”, Jalil Ahmed, a resident of Sariab lamented. Mr. Ahmed said women and children were the worst sufferers in the cold weather as there was no gas supply in the area.
Despite repeated attempts, there was no official version of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). The SSGC’s public relations officer (PRO) is posted in Karachi and there was no to speak to this Daily about the gas pressure problem in various parts of Balochistan.
