Students organizations challenge closure of UoB in BHC

Students organizations challenged the continued closure of the University of Balochistan (UoB) in the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday. The Balochistan Students Organization (BSO) and BSO (PAJAR) filed a petition in the BHC.

In their petition, the students’ organizations challenged the fee received by the university administration without classes and demanded the pending results. The petitioners also challenged the continued closure of the UoB and termed it a violation of a fundamental right.

Students demand the court to direct the government to resume classes

The student organizations demanded of the BHC to direct the Balochistan government and the university administration to resume studies and avoid wasting the precious time of the students.

Employees and faculty members protesting for the last two months

Employees and faculty members of the UoB have been protesting against the non-payment of salaries for the last more than three months. They are deprived of their salaries. Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo had directed the finance department to issue salaries of the employees and faculty members before Eid ul Fitar.

Professor Kaleem Bareech of the Academic Staff Association said that the government should solve the issue on a permanent basis and that the employees and teachers should not be on the roads every day.
