QUETTA: Provincial Minister of Industry and Commerce, Excise and Taxation, and Energy, Prince Ahmad Ali Ahmadzai, emphasized the significance of self-accountability and the court of conscience as the best means of ensuring transparency. Speaking as the special guest on International Anti-Corruption Day at a seminar, he asserted that tackling corruption is not the sole responsibility of individuals or institutions but requires a collective effort from the entire nation.
NAB Plays Key Role In Eliminating Corruption
Prince Ahmad Ali Ahmadzai lamented the existing disparity where the privileged lack hope, and the deprived face insurmountable challenges. He underscored that eradicating corruption demands the active participation of governments and institutions alongside individual commitment. Acknowledging the role of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he stressed the need for society to be conscientious about the prevalence of corruption.
The seminar, attended by high-ranking officials and students, featured Additional Chief Secretary Interior and Tribal Affairs Zahid Saleem, Director General NAB Zafar Iqbal Khan, DIGATF Dr. Munir Marwat, Vice Chancellor Biotms Professor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, former provincial minister Rosh Khursheed Brocha, and Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafaaqat. The provincial minister urged the young generation to actively combat both financial and moral corruption, emphasizing the role of thought, language, and a genuine lifestyle.
Addressing Corruption Begins At Home: Zahid Saleem
Zahid Saleem, Additional Secretary Interior and Tribal Affairs, highlighted the interconnectedness of moral and financial corruption, asserting that addressing corruption begins at home by instilling ethical values in children. He expressed optimism in the youth’s potential to contribute to societal betterment, emphasizing their future role in governance. Saleem called for a return to values such as thrift and contentment, attributing corruption to the disappearance of the middle class, the backbone of economic and social life.
