Education Desk:

The Balochistan education department has formed seven complaint redressal committees (CRCs) headed by divisional commissioners to hear complaints regarding the merit list compiled by CTSP, a testing service with regard to the appointment of teachers.

CTSP had conducted tests and interviews for the posts of around 10,000 teachers across Balochistan during the year 2019. Tests and interviews for vacant posts of various categories of teachers were conducted in all 33 districts of Balochistan.

“To ensure transparency and for immediate redressal of complaints, CRCs have been formed”, a well-placed officer in the Balochistan education department told the daily Quetta Voice on Sunday.

Despite the passing of seven months, the teachers are yet to be appointed on thousands of vacant posts lying vacant for years. “We fulfilled all criteria, came on merit but still waiting for appointment”, Najeebullah, a candidate who passed the Junior English Teacher test conducted last year told the daily Quetta Voice.

Like Najeeb, thousands of candidates have been waiting for appointments.

The CRCs led by commissioners comprise of four members, the education officer said. He mentioned that the CRCs are bound to dispose of any complaint within 60 days.

Balochistan has been lagging behind all other provinces in terms of key social indicators including education and health. Jam Kamal Khan-led government made an important decision of recruitment of around 10,000 teachers in the province to bring it at par with other parts of the country.
