QUETTA: The Irrigation Department of Naseerabad Division has launched a stringent crackdown against illegal water activities, including theft and blockage, following the directives of Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Mir Sadiq Umrani, and Provincial Secretary Hafiz Abdul Majid.
In a strong move to safeguard water resources and protect agricultural lands, the department has registered an FIR in Sahabpur against several individuals accused of illegally blocking water flow and stealing water from canals in various areas. The accused include Sanaullah, son of Hafiz Prabi; Yasir Khan, son of Abdul Latif; Samiullah, son of Sana; Muhammad Hamza Qoum Khosa; and other unidentified persons. The FIR was lodged at Muhammad Ali Shaheed police station, with Sub Engineer Zafar Ali of the Irrigation Drainage Department leading the effort.
The Irrigation Department has emphasized that any actions leading to water theft or obstruction will not be tolerated, as these activities pose a severe threat to both human lives and agricultural infrastructure. The department has urged the public to report any suspicious activities directly to them, assuring that legal action will be promptly taken against offenders.
Minister Umrani has issued strict orders ensuring that water distribution will adhere strictly to the law, with no leniency for those who attempt to disrupt the system. The department is currently utilizing all available resources to enforce these measures, reflecting the government’s commitment to protecting the region’s vital water supply.
The crackdown highlights the government’s firm stance against anti-social elements involved in water-related crimes, reinforcing the importance of legal and fair water distribution for the well-being of the community and the sustainability of agriculture in the region.
