Nokkundi, October 25, 2024: Two primary schools in the remote villages of Bedok and Sarzay, District Chagai, have reopened after 13 years, thanks to support from Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC). This initiative, part of RDMC’s community development efforts, includes providing teachers, free uniforms, books, and stationery to local children.

Guided by its Community Development Committees (CDC), RDMC responded to local calls for accessible education. As the original school buildings are in disrepair, classes are temporarily held in spaces provided by the community, with infrastructure upgrades planned.

“Education is a cornerstone of RDMC’s sustainable development goals, alongside health, water, food security, and economic growth,” said RDMC’s Community Investment Lead Mohammad Essa Tahir. The company also supports skill training through a Nokkundi center in partnership with Hunar Foundation, serving 286 students, including local women.

RDMC aims to foster long-term community partnerships and sustainable impact, with Reko Diq poised to create 4,000 jobs and a 40-year mining life.
