Health Desk:
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) shared significant updates regarding MBBS/BDS admissions 2024-25, MDCAT 2025, and private medical and dental colleges fee structures during the E-Kacheri session held on 7th March 2025. Below are the key highlights of the session:
1. MBBS/BDS Admissions 2024-25 Deadline
PMDC has directed all admitting universities to complete the MBBS and BDS admission process for the 2024-25 session by 31st March 2025. The council emphasized that no further extensions will be granted beyond this deadline.
2. Private Medical & Dental Colleges Fee Structure
PMDC has issued formal notices to all private medical and dental colleges, seeking justification for the increased tuition fees. The council is actively working to implement uniform fee regulations across private institutions to ensure transparency and affordability.
3. Admission Status Clarification
PMDC advised students to verify the admission status of medical and dental colleges on the official PMDC website. Institutions marked as “Stop Admissions” are not permitted to enroll students, while those labeled “Court Permission” are authorized to proceed with admissions following legal directives.
4. MDCAT 2025 Conduction
As per the PMDC Act, the responsibility of conducting the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) lies with both PMDC and the provincial governments. However, the council has yet to clarify whether MDCAT 2025 will be conducted at the national or provincial level.
5. MDCAT 2025 Syllabus Update
PMDC committees, in collaboration with university vice-chancellors and board directors, are in the process of finalizing the MDCAT 2025 syllabus. Any changes to the previous syllabus will be officially communicated in due course.
6. MDCAT Result Validity
PMDC reaffirmed that according to the PMDC Act, MDCAT results remain valid for 3 years. This regulation can only be modified through parliamentary amendments.
These updates are crucial for students pursuing medical and dental education in Pakistan. Aspiring candidates are encouraged to stay updated through official PMDC channels to avoid misinformation.
