QUETTA – Government of Balochistan’s spokesperson Shahid Rind held a press conference on Tuesday in Quetta, addressing recent developments including the Mastung incident, security response, and the formation of District Coordination Committees (DCCs).

Speaking to the media, Rind said, “An incident occurred in Mastung yesterday which, for a brief time, created the impression that terrorists hold sway within the state.” He assured that the government swiftly revised its security strategy, leading to a strong counter-response.

He confirmed that four terrorists were killed in an immediate retaliatory operation by security forces in the area, restoring order and public confidence.

Rind also revealed that Rs. 40 million were looted from local banks in Mastung, highlighting that most banks operate under private security arrangements. He noted that the government is now taking additional measures to secure not only public property but also financial institutions to prevent such incidents in the future.

Addressing the criticism surrounding the District Coordination Committees, Shahid Rind defended their formation, stating, “The DCC forums, introduced in the recent provincial budget, are a significant step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in development projects.” He further clarified that no Deputy Commissioner has been appointed as Project Director (PD), dismissing concerns over administrative overreach.

The spokesman reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening governance, enhancing security, and promoting trust between citizens and the state.
