Quetta (Web Desk) — Iran Air has announced plans to begin direct weekly passenger and cargo flights from Quetta to the Iranian cities of Zahidan and Mashhad, aiming to boost trade, travel, and economic ties between Pakistan and Iran.
The announcement was made by Iran’s acting Consul General in Quetta, Ali Reza Rajai, during an event hosted by the Pak-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce.
Ali Reza Rajai stated that the new air routes will significantly reduce travel time and costs for traders while creating new opportunities for commerce and connectivity between the two neighbouring countries.
“These flights will play a key role in strengthening trade and people-to-people contact between Pakistan and Iran,” Rajai said, adding that closer cooperation in transport and logistics would directly benefit both economies.
Senior officials from Iran Air, including Chief Agha Karimi and Deputy Chief Agha Ismail, also participated in the ceremony.
Ali Reza Rajai emphasized that the new service will be particularly helpful in boosting port-to-port coordination between Pakistan’s Gwadar Port and Iran’s Chabahar Port, two critical hubs for regional trade.
He also stressed the need for both countries to ease bureaucratic processes, suggesting streamlined visa issuance, affordable fares, and simpler business regulations to facilitate smoother travel and trade.
