At least 2 Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel were martyred and six injured during an exchange of fire with drug smugglers at Mashkail near Pak-Iran border on Friday. ANF sources said drug smugglers attacked the forces at Mashkail rockets and other heavy weapons.

Two ANF personnel embraced martyrdom and six others got injured during the exchange of fire. The injured soldiers were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. The ANF quickly retaliated and took 2 vehicles loaded with narcotics in custody. The attackers managed to escape from the spot.

Two vehicles of ANF attacked by drug smugglers also caught fire. Smoke and fire could be seen from quite far away. A search operation was launched by security forces to apprehend the culprits involved in the attack. However, no arrest was made by security forces until the filing of this report.

Drug smugglers and human traffickers use dozens of unfrequented routes at the 900 long Iranian borders. Narcotics are smuggled from Afghanistan’s Southern troubled Helmand province into Pakistan and then smugglers sneak into Iran while using unfrequented routes at the border.
