News Desk: Political uncertainty escalated in Balochistan on Wednesday after Senator Dostain Khan Domki of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) once again asserted that Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti is likely to be replaced, a statement that reignited tensions and sharp exchanges within the provincial coalition.
Reinforcing his criticism of the current administration, Senator Domki accused the Chief Minister of failing to stabilise the security landscape. He alleged that key highways remain exposed to danger, civilians are still falling victim to violent attacks, border checkpoints face repeated closures, and internet outages have become a common occurrence. Domki also levelled grave corruption allegations against Bugti, insisting that leadership reshuffling has become essential to restore administrative order and public faith.
His remarks stirred widespread political discussion throughout the province, intensifying speculation about emerging fissures within the governing alliance.
Issuing a firm response, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the Balochistan Assembly, dismissed Domki’s claims as unfounded and politically motivated. He affirmed that Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti continues to command the trust and support of all coalition partners, including the PPP.
Umrani noted that if Senator Domki has any objections, he should address them through his own party’s internal channels and raise the matter before the senior leadership of the PML-N rather than making public allegations. He added that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has already made it clear that abrupt changes in provincial chief ministers undermine democratic stability and hamper governance.
He further stated that PPP MPA Liaquat Lahri has repeatedly disregarded party rules, and the issue will soon be presented to the PPP’s central leadership for disciplinary action.
