News Desk: The Government of Balochistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to provide electric scooters to students, working women, and the general public on easy, subsidised installments.

The agreement was formalised at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta in the presence of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani, senior provincial officials, and top representatives of the National Bank of Pakistan also attended the ceremony.

Calling the initiative a major step toward public welfare, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that access to safe, affordable, and respectable transport, particularly for students and working women, is a key priority of the provincial government. He noted that rising fuel costs and limited transport options have made daily commuting difficult for many families, and this electric scooter scheme is designed to ease that burden.

The chief minister highlighted that the project will not only reduce travel expenses but also promote eco-friendly and low-cost alternatives to conventional fuel-based transport. “Electric scooters are a practical solution for urban mobility. They are economical, environment-friendly, and well-suited to the daily needs of our people,” he said.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to people-centric development, Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that Balochistan will continue to roll out welfare-oriented projects that deliver direct benefits to citizens. He added that empowering youth and women through practical initiatives remains central to the province’s development agenda.

The subsidised electric scooter financing scheme is expected to enhance mobility, support working women and students, reduce dependence on fuel, and contribute to cleaner and more sustainable transportation in Balochistan, marking another step toward inclusive and people-friendly governance.
