Islamabad : The Government of Pakistan has officially announced revised eligibility criteria for the Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme 2026, aiming to make the program more transparent, inclusive, and merit-driven. Officials stated that the updated framework is designed to expand access to digital resources for deserving students across the country.

Key Updates in Eligibility Criteria

According to official sources, the scheme will no longer rely solely on pure academic merit but will also incorporate additional defined criteria to ensure fairness and transparency.

Applicants must be regularly enrolled in a public sector university or a college recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Students enrolled in the following programs are eligible to apply:

BS (Bachelor of Science)

Master’s degree programs

MPhil

PhD

Selection of candidates will be based on:

Academic performance

Verified domicile

Other prescribed terms and conditions

Authorities emphasized that the reforms aim to strengthen digital education, online learning, research capacity, and IT skill development among students. A comprehensive data verification mechanism has also been introduced to enhance transparency in the selection process.

How to Apply Eligible students are advised to:

Complete registration at their respective university or college.

Submit an online application through the official Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme website.

Upload accurate academic records, CNIC details, and other required documentation.

After scrutiny and verification of applications, a merit list will be issued, and laptops will be distributed among the s elected candidates.
