News Desk: Pakistan’s security forces successfully intercepted two rudimentary drones allegedly operated by a militant group, according to a fact-check statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Pakistan).
Officials said the drones were neutralized using electronic countermeasures before they could reach any sensitive target. No military or civilian infrastructure was damaged in the incident, although minor damage was reported due to debris after the drones were forced to crash.
According to the statement, the drones were linked to a militant outfit identified as FAK. Authorities alleged that the group operates with backing from the regime of the Afghan Taliban.
The ministry also dismissed claims made by Taliban authorities regarding the incident, stating that the allegations lacked verifiable evidence. Officials said such statements were part of a recurring pattern of misinformation and propaganda.
The statement further noted that social media accounts associated with the Taliban government have previously circulated unverified reports, including claims about shooting down aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force and capturing pilots, assertions that were later deleted without confirmation.
Authorities reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain alert and prepared to respond to any security threat while continuing to counter misinformation related to national security incidents.
