News Desk: Traders across Balochistan have agreed to new business hours after a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, endorsing government-led austerity and energy conservation measures amid fears of a looming energy crisis.
Leading business groups, including trader associations, the Quetta Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of hotels, restaurants, and marriage halls, pledged full cooperation with the provincial government’s strategy to reduce energy consumption and stabilize the economy.
Under the agreed plan, markets across Balochistan will close at 8:00 PM. Restaurants and marriage halls in Quetta will shut by 11:00 PM, while businesses in other districts will close at 10:00 PM.
Officials described the move as a critical step to manage electricity usage and prevent further strain on energy resources. The chief minister emphasized that Pakistan is facing a challenging economic and energy situation, making immediate and coordinated action essential.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti noted that regulated business hours are standard practice globally and urged citizens and traders to demonstrate responsibility by supporting national efforts to conserve energy.
The trader community reiterated its commitment to implementing the new policy, highlighting the importance of unity between the government and businesses to tackle economic challenges and ensure long-term stability.
The meeting concluded with a joint resolve to continue working together on energy efficiency, austerity measures, and sustainable economic policies across the province.
