Quetta — The Government of Balochistan has announced the formation of a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive audit of official vehicles across all departments. The move, directed by the Chief Minister, aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficient management of government resources.
According to the official notification, the Secretary of Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) will chair the committee, while the Secretary Finance and Secretary Services, Transport and Administration Department will serve as members.
Province-Wide Vehicle Audit
The committee has been assigned to carry out a detailed audit of government vehicles in Balochistan, covering:
Administrative departments
Attached institutions
Autonomous bodies
Subordinate offices
The purpose is to ensure that official vehicles are being used strictly in line with government rules and entitlement policies.
Focus on Misuse and Unauthorized Allocation
The audit will identify:
Excess allocation of official vehicles beyond approved limits
Unauthorized use of government cars
Cases of misuse, illegal allotment, and unnecessary retention
The committee will also recommend actions for the recovery, redistribution, or disposal of surplus vehicles.
Policy Review and Reforms
In a significant step toward governance reform, the committee will review the Balochistan Civil Car Rules 1988 and propose amendments to improve:
Vehicle allocation systems
Monitoring and compliance mechanisms
Overall public sector efficiency
Timeline and Implementation
All departments have been instructed to appoint a Grade-19 focal person within 48 hours to coordinate with the committee and provide required data and records.
The committee is expected to submit its final report within 15 days, including actionable recommendations to enhance public sector transparency and resource management.
