Quetta: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan organized an awareness seminar titled “Functions of NAB and Role of Students in Eradication of Corruption” at Tameer-e-Nau Public College. The event was part of NAB’s ongoing anti-corruption awareness campaign aimed at educating youth about the harmful effects of corruption and encouraging their active participation in building a transparent and accountable society.
Addressing the seminar, Mr. Khuram Shehzad, Deputy Director NAB Balochistan, highlighted NAB’s vision, mission, and institutional efforts to combat corruption across Pakistan. He emphasized the critical role of students in promoting integrity, accountability, and ethical values, urging them to reject all forms of corruption and make honesty an integral part of their character.
During his address, he noted that nepotism, bribery, extortion, influence peddling, and favoritism are major forms of corruption that negatively impact society and hinder national development. He stressed that the teachings of Islam strongly advocate self-accountability, transparency, and honesty while condemning every form of corruption and dishonesty.
The Deputy Director stated that young people are key stakeholders in Pakistan’s future and can play a pivotal role in fostering a corruption-free society through ethical conduct, responsible citizenship, and awareness initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Colleges Muhammad Hussain and Principal Abid Maqsood expressed their commitment to supporting anti-corruption efforts and appreciated NAB Balochistan’s initiatives to raise awareness among students. They assured full cooperation in future awareness campaigns designed to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.
The seminar concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to the Principal by the Deputy Director NAB Balochistan, followed by a mutual vote of thanks. An anti-corruption awareness walk was also organized, in which NAB officers, education officials, faculty members, and a large number of students participated, demonstrating their collective commitment to combating corruption and promoting ethical values in society.
