By Our Correspondent: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged protesters in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to end ongoing demonstrations peacefully, warning that prolonged instability could adversely affect both the Kashmir issue and Pakistan’s international standing.

In a statement released on Sunday, Bilawal said the timing of the unrest was particularly sensitive as Pakistan was receiving increased diplomatic attention due to its role in regional peace and dialogue efforts. He stressed that continued tensions in AJK could provide an opportunity for adversarial forces to advance narratives against Pakistan and the Kashmiri cause.

The former foreign minister emphasized that political disagreements should be addressed through constitutional and democratic channels rather than confrontation on the streets. He called on all parties to exercise restraint and support a peaceful resolution of the situation.

Bilawal said his party favors a political settlement and reiterated support for reviewing the recently announced election schedule in AJK. He also proposed the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to examine grievances, promote dialogue among stakeholders, and help achieve a durable solution to ongoing disputes.

Referring to actions taken against protesting groups, the PPP chairman suggested that relevant government notifications could be reconsidered in the future if consensus emerges among political stakeholders. However, he maintained that adherence to the law remains essential and that any legal violations should be dealt with through established judicial processes.

The appeal comes as protests and strike activities continue in various parts of AJK following government action against the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which was recently declared a banned organization. The group has been involved in disputes with authorities over several political issues, including representation in the regional legislative assembly.

In recent days, demonstrations have continued in different districts, leading to disruptions in transportation, commercial activity, and public services. Internet outages and restrictions on communication services have also drawn criticism from residents, particularly students, freelancers, and business owners who say the disruptions are affecting education and livelihoods.

Bilawal said lasting stability in AJK can only be achieved through dialogue, democratic engagement, and institutional reforms, adding that the people of Kashmir deserve a peaceful environment free from recurring political crises and uncertainty.
