By Our Correspondent: The Balochistan Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Rs1.089 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, with a strong focus on development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, law and order, and employment generation.

The approval was granted during an important cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta. Under the proposed financial plan, the government has earmarked Rs206 billion for the Provincial Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), including Rs106 billion for new development schemes and Rs100 billion for ongoing projects.

The provincial government has also allocated Rs797 billion for non-development expenditures, ensuring the continuation of essential public services and administrative functions.

In a significant boost to the development portfolio, Rs45 billion in federally funded projects and Rs40 billion under Foreign Project Assistance (FPA) will be available in addition to the PSDP allocations, expanding investment in infrastructure and public welfare initiatives across Balochistan.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the FY2026-27 budget reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable economic growth, fiscal discipline and public welfare. He highlighted that education, healthcare, infrastructure development, peace and security, and job creation have been given top priority to improve living standards and accelerate socio-economic progress in the province.

The chief minister also announced that for the first time in Balochistan’s history, the provincial budget has been prepared through an automated budgeting system, describing it as a major step towards transparency, efficiency and modern governance.

He further stated that the provincial government had completed 6,000 development schemes over the past two years, demonstrating its determination to speed up development and improve service delivery throughout the province.

The government has also set an ambitious target of increasing provincial revenues to Rs170 billion during the new fiscal year, aiming to strengthen Balochistan’s financial position and reduce dependence on external resources.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed confidence that the Balochistan Budget 2026-27 would serve as a milestone for sustainable development, fiscal stability and long-term prosperity for the people of the province.
