Quetta : Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti travelled by road to Ziarat in a non-bulletproof civilian vehicle to review the security situation and chair a high-level meeting following the recent Mangi Dam incident.
Speaking before his departure, the Chief Minister said the fight against terrorism had entered a decisive phase and reaffirmed that the provincial government would stand with the people during this critical time.
“Wherever a citizen of Balochistan is in distress, I will personally go there,” Bugti said, adding that although the situation remains challenging, the government will not step back from its responsibilities.
He said his visit to Ziarat was aimed at expressing solidarity with the families of the martyrs, offering condolences, and boosting their morale.
The Chief Minister stated that the people of Balochistan have united against terrorism and paid tribute to the courage of police personnel, saying they fought bravely until their last breath.
Bugti announced that the Government of Balochistan would assume responsibility for the education, financial support, and future welfare of the children of the martyrs, adding that they would never be made to feel orphaned.
Explaining his decision to travel without a bulletproof vehicle, he said that if his personnel were fighting terrorists without such protection, his conscience did not permit him to travel in one.
“Life and death are in the hands of Almighty Allah. I stand shoulder to shoulder with our security forces in the fight against terrorism,” he said.
The Chief Minister appealed to political stakeholders to support the government’s campaign against terrorism instead of politicizing the loss of lives, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism is a national cause requiring unity.
He further announced that a full-scale Counter-Terrorism Operation had been launched in the Zarghoon and adjoining areas, with the Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Police conducting coordinated Joint Security Operations against militant elements.
Bugti concluded by saying that terrorists responsible for the killing of innocent civilians and security personnel deserve no leniency and would be dealt with according to the law.
