News Desk: The Balochistan government has set targets to provide technical training to 25,000 young people and prepare 30,000 skilled workers for overseas employment by next year, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said during a meeting on vocational education and youth development.
The meeting of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA), chaired by the chief minister, reviewed measures to improve technical education, expand employment opportunities and equip young people with skills required by local and international labour markets.
Bugti said vocational training was essential to empowering young people economically and helping them secure decent employment. He directed the relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure that trained youth could contribute effectively to Pakistan’s economy and compete for jobs in international markets.
He stressed that training programmes must reflect modern technological developments and the evolving requirements of employers. He also called for stronger monitoring and accountability to improve the performance of technical training institutes and ensure quality education.
Officials informed the meeting that an institute registration portal had become operational to improve the registration and monitoring of technical and vocational training institutions across Balochistan.
The meeting also reviewed delays in implementing the Chief Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme. Participants decided to initiate action against those responsible for slow progress and accelerate implementation to achieve the programme’s targets.
Bugti reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to providing quality technical training and connecting young people with sustainable employment opportunities.
He said developing a skilled workforce would support Balochistan’s economic growth, promote youth empowerment and enable more young people to access employment opportunities both within Pakistan and abroad.
