Islamabad: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a major drug trafficking attempt in Quetta, Balochistan, recovering 60 kilograms of hashish concealed in a secret compartment beneath the floor of an ambulance and arresting a suspected member of a drug trafficking network.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the operation was conducted near Sona Khan Chowk in Quetta following intelligence reports that a large consignment of narcotics would be transported from Mastung to Quetta using an ambulance as cover.
Acting on the information, ANF personnel maintained surveillance and carried out a coordinated intelligence-based operation, successfully intercepting the vehicle and recovering the concealed hashish.
A suspected key member of the drug trafficking network was also arrested during the operation. A case has been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the network.
ANF Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
The use of an ambulance to transport narcotics highlights the tactics allegedly adopted by drug traffickers to evade law enforcement and exploit vehicles associated with emergency medical services.
The ANF spokesperson also referred to a recent operation in Shikarpur, Sindh, where the force reportedly foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from Balochistan to Sindh after narcotics were recovered from secret compartments inside an ambulance.
The latest seizure underscores the Anti-Narcotics Force’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent the movement of illegal narcotics across Pakistan.
The ANF reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and advancing its mission of achieving a Drug-Free Pakistan.
