Youm e Ashura was observed in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan amid tight security on Sunday. The main Ashura procession was taken out from Shuhada Chowk Marriabad in the morning. The procession passed through its traditional routes and ended after Maghrib prayer in Marriabad.
Youm e Ashura peacefully observed in Balochistan
Syed Dawood Agha, the President Shia Conference Balochistan led the mourners paying rich tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of Hazarat Muhammad (PBUH), the last prophet of Allah Almighty. The mourners offered Namaz e Zohrain at Bacha Khan Chowk Quetta. The Shia religious scholars delivered speeches and highlighted the importance of observing the Ashura day in Islamic history.
Security was put on high alert
The Balochistan government had taken strict security measures to maintain law and order situation on the eve of Ashura procession in Quetta city and other sensitive districts of the province. Thousands of police, levies and frontier corps personnel were deployed at all procession routes in Quetta to avert any untoward incident.
“What is humanly possible, we have done that in terms of tightening security”, Razzaq Cheema, the Additional Inspector General of Police Balochistan told reporters.

Three brigades of the Pak Army were also put on high alert to act in the case of any emergency situation. The procession was monitored through secret cameras by officials at the control room established at inspector general police Balochistan’s office.
Processions taken elsewhere in Balochistan
Mourning processions were also taken in Sibi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Khuzdar, Loralai and other districts of Balochistan on the eve of Ashura. Fool-proof security arrangements were made by district administrations to ensure peace on the eve of processions.
Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan in a statement commended the performance of all law enforcement agencies for ensuring peace in the province during Ashura processions. He said all rescue workers and law enforcers deserve to be appreciated for maintaining law and order situation.
Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove, Balochistan Police Chief Mohsin Hassan Butt, IG FC North Balochistan, Major General Fayyaz Hussain Shah and other high ups also spent a busy day in monitoring the overall law and order situation during Ashura processions.
