Commander of a banned outfit killed in Balochistan‘s Mastung
A key militant commander was killed in a joint operation by security forces in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Monday. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and secret agencies conducted a raid in the Parangabad area of Mastung and killed the accused during an exchange of fire, the Spokesman CTD said.
The accused opened fire on forces after seeing them. However, forces quickly retaliated and killed him on the spot, he said. The accused was involved in a suicide attack on Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader, Mir Siraj Raisani and other terrorist activities in the province. Security forces also recovered explosives and weapons from the possession of the terrorist, the Spokesman mentioned.

BAP leader Mir Siraj Raisani lost his life along with more than 100 people at an election rally on July 13th, 2018 in the Daringarh area of Mastung district. Late Raisani was contesting the provincial assembly election when targeted during the rally. Siraj Raisani was the younger brother of former chief minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani.
The Islamic State had claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Mastung
Mastung is considered to be one of the sensitive districts of Balochistan. Militants in the past have carried out attacks against security forces and targeted Shia pilgrims on their way to Iran. Since then, security has been tightened in and around Mastung to avert any untoward incident in the area.
