Balochistan has not a one-kilometer motorway: Jam Kamal

QUETTA: Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan on Saturday said Balochistan has not a one-kilometer motorway. Speaking to members of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), he said long distances and poor road conditions compound problems of the people.
“Balochistan is the only province, which has no internal flights”, he said. PFUJ President Shehzada Zulfiqar, Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi, the Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Qasim Suri, provincial ministers, and journalists present. “If someone wants to go from Sherani or Zhob to Mekran, it will take two days”, he mentioned. He said past governments failed to focus on the development of the province. Jam Kamal pointed out that 70 percent of the province had no national grid station.
Work to start on the dualization of the Quetta-Karachi highway
The Chief Minister however said work would start soon on the dualization of the Quetta-Karachi highway and Kuchlak-Zhob highway. “We raised issues of Balochistan in Islamabad and convinced the federal government to allocate required funds”, he said.
The Chief Minister thus informed that no foreigner was allowed to purchase land in Balochistan. Only Pakistani nationals can purchase land, he mentioned. He said this decision made by the government to protect the economic and political interests of the people of Balochistan.
Loans provided to 18,000 people
Jam Kamal also informed that the provincial government provided loans to around 18,000 need people affected by the COVID19 without any interest. He said during the last three months, 25 percent recovery made from the people in collaboration with the Akhuwat program.
He said the government was focusing on the provision of health facilities to the people on a priority basis. “Government provided free treatment to 1,100 cancer and other patients suffering from dangerous diseases”, he informed.
