Professional Panel Sweeps Quetta Bar Elections

After a tough contest, the Professional Panel has swept the Quetta Bar Elections. Senior lawyer, Muhammad Iqbal Kasi advocate elected as the President Quetta Bar Association (QBA), and Ali Hassan elected as the Secretary-General of the QBA. “Shaheed Baz Muhammad dominated in elections today”, Naseebullah Tareen Advocate, the senior leader of the Professional Panel told Quetta Voice.
Jubilation and celebrations in the premises of court when the election commission announced the landmark victory for the Professional Panel. Young lawyers danced on the beat of drums to celebrate the victory. Former President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Amanullah Kanrani has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers. “Above political affiliation, they have to struggle for supremacy of constitution”, Mr. Kanrai said.
Kasi got 236 votes and his rival candidate Muneer got 231 votes
Iqbal Kasi got 236 votes and Muneer Sikandar Advocate of the Shakeel Panel got 231 votes during tough competition. Ali Hassan Bugti, the candidate for the Secretary-General got 298 votes and Asmatullah Achakzai from Wokla Panel got 168 votes. Afrasiab Barakzai from Professional Panel elected as the Vice-President with 292 votes and Asmatullah Mandokhail from Shakeel Panel got 169 votes.

“This is the success of every lawyer who stands by constitution and rule of law”, Munir Ahmed Kakar, another senior leader of the Professional Panel said. He said the legal fraternity would keep continuing its struggle for the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law in the country.
According to the elections commission, the Professional Panel won all seats of the QBA from the President to the Librarian. A total of four-panels participated in the elections of the QBA. All panels made tooth and nail efforts to win the elections.
