Balochistan education: recruitment process of 9,400 teachers underway

QUETTA: Balochistan secondary education department has commenced the process of recruiting over 9,400 teachers in various categories. So far, we have issued appointment orders to teachers in 8 districts of Balochistan, Sher Khan Bazai, the secretary of education said.
Earlier, the department had issued appointment orders to teachers shortlisted by the Career Testing Services of Pakistan (CTSP). CTSP had conducted tests of around 100,000 candidates for over 9,400 posts in Balochistan during 2019.
Balochistan education minister, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind has said the recruitment process would be completed soon. “Government will address the issue of lack of teachers in schools”, Sardar Rind said.
3,200 government-run schools are not functional/ghost
In Balochistan, over 3,200 government-run primary, middle and high schools are not functional for the last many years. Similarly, the number of one-teach one-room schools across Balochistan was over 5,000. The main reason behind this was a persistent delay in the appointment of teachers.
“We will issue appointment orders to the remaining districts soon”, Mr. Bazai said. He however mentioned that the process of 9 districts’ appointments was in the final process. 16 districts recruitment committees (DRCs) are ye to submit final merit lists of candidates to the secretary of the education department’s office.
“The concerned deputy commissioners have been directed to submit lists early”, Sher Khan Banzai said.
Appointment orders of non-teaching staff in 20 districts issued
The education department has thus issued appointment orders of non-teaching cadres to 20 districts of Balochistan. The Balochistan government had approved thousands of posts for the education department to improve the quality of education and overcome the shortage of teachers.
