Data of 1.6 million criminals computerized in Balochistan: IG Police

Balochistan police chief, Mohsin Hassan Butt said the data of 1.6 million criminals computerized by police in the province. He expressed these views while speaking to reporters on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the first-digital police project in Quetta on Tuesday.
The Police Chief stated the data of criminals across the province has been computerized to ensure their arrest. “This will help police to ensure timely action against criminals”, Mr. Butt mentioned. Balochistan police have the computerized data of all criminals of the country, he added.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta, Azhar Akram, and other senior police officers were also present on the occasion.
10,000 online FIRs registered in Balochistan
The Inspector-General of Police informed that so far 10,000 online FIRs have been registered across the province. In every police station of Balochistan, there is a facility for online registration of FIR, he added.
He said Balochistan is going to be the first province to establish a smart women police station. “This will help police to address grievances of women timely”, he mentioned.
CTD investigating Mach tragedy
About the Mach tragedy, Mohsin Hassan Butt said the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was interrogating the terrorist act. The Balochistan government had already established a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into the incident that claimed the lives of 11 coal miners in the Mach area of Balochistan.
He said the data of passengers at bus stops and hotels would also be registered to keep an eye on the movement of the people. The bus and hotel owners are cooperating with the police, he said.
