Quetta-flavored tea and a wide variety of parathas have been attracting customers in the federal capital Islamabad nowadays. After Karachi, Quetta hotels are now famous in various parts of Islamabad.
“Number of tea-lovers continues to increase”, Syed Naqeebullah Agha, the owner of a hotel located on Islamabad expressway Saon garden informed. A few years back, some hotel owners and laborers shifted from Karachi to Islamabad after targeted killings and attacks in the country’s largest city.

“Quality is our hallmark”, Mr. Agha said. Hotel owners from Balochistan’s district Pishin and Killa Abdullah have established hotels in Rawalpindi and different parts of Islamabad.
Large crowds of people waiting for their turn outside the small outlet can be witnessed all the time. However, the number of customers increases in the evening and morning time.
“There is peace in Islamabad, that’s why, we are trying to serve better quality chai”, Agha Muhammad, a labourer working in the hotel mentioned.
Quetta hotels were attacked in Karachi
Quetta hotels were repeatedly attacked in various parts of Karachi when MQM was in power during the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led government in Sindh and center. “Initially, police came and asked about our data, now they are not asking”, Agha Muhammad added.
Most of the Quetta hotels opened up during the last three years. Citizens of Islamabad were unaware of the taste and quality of Quetta chai. However, the number of customers has been increasing with every passing day.
Hotels offering a variety of parathas
Quetta tea hotels with almost every Chai flavor imaginable on their menu have several branches all across Pakistan. Quetta hotel owners complained that some people in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar have copied their names i.e. Quetta to attract customers.
“I have seen many people have copied our name in Islamabad”, Naqeeb Agha complained.
The penetration of hotel experts and laborers from the Pishin and Killa Abdullah districts dates back to the early 1980s. With no industries, factories, agriculture, and government jobs, people went to Karachi to earn a daily break. However, the worsening law and order situation forced them to shift their businesses to Islamabad.
