BPSC recommends appointments of 676 doctors in health department

The Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) has recommended appointments of 676 male and female medical officers in the health department. The commission had conducted tests and interviews of the medical officers recently.
“We have received the recommendations of the BPSC“, Noor ul Haq Baloch, the secretary of health Balochistan said. “Very soon, we will post doctors in all parts of Balochistan”, Mr. Baloch said.

The health department would post doctors in their native areas to overcome the shortage of health professionals. “Our priority is far-flung areas of Balochistan”, Mr. Baloch stated.
The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has also welcomed the appointments of doctors. “This is what, we were demanding”, Dr. Yasir Achakzai, the President YDA said.
The health department of Balochistan has already recruited around 1,000 doctors on a contract basis. The YDA has also demanded the immediate promotion of doctors across Balochistan.
The health sector paints a bleak picture
The health sector in Balochistan paints a bleak picture of Balochistan despite the allocation of over Rs. 32 billion in the financial budget for the year 2020-21. People from rural parts of the province come to Quetta for medical treatment due to the absence of qualified medical professionals.
Whereas, a large number of patients also visit hospitals in Karachi for medical treatment.
The health sector is one of the key priorities of the government: CM.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal has declared the health sector as one of the main priorities of his government. “Government is trying to translate its words into action”, Jam Kamal said.
The CM also revealed that his government has provided jobs to over 18,000 people in various departments. Most of the jobs provided in the education and health sectors.
