Governor is bound to act on advice of CM in appointment of VCs: BHC

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday directed the health department government of Balochistan to expedite the process of recruitment of doctors to cope with the prevailing situation developed in the aftermath of deadly coronavirus. The court also directed the health department to provide personal protection equipment to doctors in Balochistan.

The court passed this order during hearing of a petition filed by senior lawyers with regard to official arrangements for the coronavirus patients and the government’s strategy to contain the virus on Thursday.

Chief Justice BHC, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail ordered the health department to make sure early appointment on vacant posts of doctors in the province. Special secretary health informed the court that 340 posts of doctors have already been advertised and the process would be completed soon. He told the court that interviews are scheduled to be held between 7th to 14th April in this regard.

The special secretary told the court that the contract of 500 doctors, nurses and paramedics was expired and a summary was initiated by the department to decide about their fate. The court directed the secretary to make sure timely decisions about the fate of 500 doctors, nurses and paramedics.

The special secretary health and MS of Sheikh Zayed hospital informed the court that some political figures were visiting the hospital without health protocol. The court directed the concerned quarters that the political people should first contact the MS and then visit the patients in the hospital.

The President of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan informed the court that nine doctors and a health technician have been tested positive for the coronavirus in the province. The court directed the department to make sure the provision of better health facilities to doctors and all patients.

Hitherto, 9 doctors tested positive for coronavirus in Quetta

The case was adjourned till April 7th.
