CM Balochistan takes notice of kidnapping of 6 Shia pilgrims

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has taken notice of the kidnapping of 6 Shia pilgrims near the Pak-Iran border. The CM has sought a report from the home department, inspector general of police, and commissioner Mekran division, an official statement issued by the CM Secretariat said on Sunday evening.

Jam Kamal said the protection of life and property of the citizens is the responsibility of the government. He has directed the concerned officials to step up efforts to make sure the unhurt recovery of the kidnapped Shia pilgrims.

Kidnappers freed two women

Armed men kidnapped six Shia pilgrims coming from Iran into Panjgur district of Balochistan province, Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, the Deputy Commissioner Panjgur said. The kidnappers freed two women accompanying the pilgrims.

“The elements causing harm to peace of Balochistan would not be spared”, Jam Kamal said. The kidnapped pilgrims belong to Karachi. They had spent 50 days in the Iranian city of Mashad and were coming to Pakistan when picked up by armed accused in the bordering area.

So far no group has claimed the responsibility for the kidnapping. Security has been tightened along with the Iranian border to make sure the recovery of the Shia pilgrims.
