Race for slot of Governor Balochistan intensifies

Amid reports of replacing Justice (R) Amanullah Yaseenzai, the race for the slot of Governor Balochistan has intensified. Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to remove the Governor, a senior leader of the Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Balochistan told Quetta Voice.

He requested anonymity. News items published on some media portals suggest that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to remove the current Governor. “Khan Sab wants to bring his own party man as Governor’, the PTI leader mentioned.

Eight names circulating on social media 

News items circulating on social media also reveal that Nawabzada Gazeen Marri, Humayoun Khan Jogezai, Syed Zahoor Agha, Dr. Faiz Kakar, Naseebuallah Bazai, Dr. Ruqia Hashmi, Saeed Mandokhail, Dr. Amir Muhammad Jogezai as potential candidates for the slot of Governor.

One of the candidates revealed, “I had a meeting with Khan Sab a few days back”, giving no other details. However, another candidate again on condition of anonymity said, “I held meeting with Sadiq Sanjrani, the Chairman Senate and other high ups”. However, a third political figure said, “nothing in my knowledge just saw my name on social media”.

Candidates preferred to avoid further comments

Both candidates preferred to avoid further comments about the appointment of new Governor Balochistan. Naseebuallah Marri, a lawmaker of the ruling PTI said the government has decided to replace the Governor Balochistan, an urdunews website reported.

Despite repeated attempts, the Quetta Voice was not able to speak to the sitting Governor Balochistan, Justice (R) Amanullah Yaseenzai. This is not for the first time that the news about the replacement of governor has made headlines rather such news items also published in the near past.
The Federal government had appointed Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yaseenzai as the Governor Balochistan in October 2018 after the resignation of Muhammad Khan Achakzai as governor.
