PDM announces public rallies on July 4 in Swat, July 29 in Karachi

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Saturday announced the holding of protest rallies in Swat on July 4 and 29th July in Karachi. Speaking at a news conference after the anti-government alliance’s meeting, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman informed that the PDM has decided to launch a countrywide protest movement across the country.

Opposition leader in National Assembly, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, PML (N), Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, and others were also present during the press conference.

Opposition decides to give tough time to the government 

“We have decided to give a tough time to the government”, the PDM Chief said. He said for this purpose, the opposition leader Mian Shehbaz Sharif entrusted the task to create momentum.

Maulana Fazal ur Rehman also demanded convening the parliament session to debate the prevailing situation in neighboring Afghanistan and reported provision of air space to Americans.

“Institutions should come to parliament and brief the lawmakers about post-America withdrawal Afghanistan situation”, he added.

PDM expresses solidarity with the journalist community 

Maulana Fazal ur Rehman and PDM leaders also expressed solidarity with the journalist community and announced to visit the residence of Asad Ali Toor, an Islamabad-based journalist. Mr. Toor was beaten by three accused the other day. The incident has sparked protests by the journalist community across the country.
