Quetta: 5600 personnel deployed during Muharram ul Haram

QUETTA: Over 5,600 security personnel would be deployed during Muharram ul Haram in the city to maintain the law and order situation. Addressing a joint press conference, Commissioner Quetta Divison, Asfandyar Khan, and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police, Muhammad Azhar Akram said foolproof security would be provided to the mourners.

“Over 5,600 police, Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel to guard Aushora procession”, the Commissioner informed. He said aerial surveillance of the Aushora procession would also be conducted in Quetta.

Procession to be monitored through 2,500 secret cameras 

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG police informed that the procession would be monitored through 2,500 secret cameras in Quetta city. “3 battalions of Pak Army would be on standby”, Mr. Akram stated.

The government has also decided to suspend the mobile service on 9th and 10th Muharram ul Haram. Procession routes would also be sealed in Quetta.

Balochistan government has also tightened security across the province on the eve of Muharram ul Haram. Security at Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran border also tightened on the eve of Muharram ul Haram.

Quetta witnessed the worst kinds of sectarian terrorist acts 

Quetta city has witnessed the worst kinds of sectarian terrorist incidents in the past two decades. In view of past incidents, the provincial government has placed all law enforcement agencies on high alert to avert any untoward incident.

“All shops, markets on procession route would be sealed”, the DIG Police said. Officer bearers of the Shia conference were also present on the occasion. The Commissioner Quetta Division underlined the need for better coordination among all institutions to ensure peace.

The DIG Police thus informed that a comprehensive security plan has been prepared to ensure peace during the Aushro procession. The Aushora procession would be taken out from Quetta’s Marriabad area amid tight security. The procession would pass through its traditional routes.
