Renowned Pashto writer Umar Gul Asker passes away

QUETTA: Renowned Pashto writer, poet, and author Umar Gul Asker breathed his last on Wednesday. Friends and family sources confirm the demise of a well-known Pashto writer and poet. Late Asker was suffering from a protracted illness and breathed his last as a result of illness.

Family sources said Umar Gul Asker would be laid to rest in Gora Qabristan Quetta today in the evening. Late Asker was a regular Pashto literary writer in daily Jang. Although, he was working in a private bank.

“Umar Gul Asker’s demise is an irreparable loss”, Dr. Liaquat Taban, a Pashto literary figure said in a statement on his Facebook page. He said late Asker had played an important role in the promotion of Pashto language, literature, history, and culture through his writings.

People belonging to various walks of life in general and the literary community, in particular, have expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Umar Gul Asker.
