CM Balochistan kicks off plant for Pakistan drive in Quetta

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo kicked off the plant for Pakistan drive in Quetta, the provincial capital on Tuesday. The CM launched a plant for Pakistan tree campaign at the CM Secretariat. Provincial ministers, officials of the forest and wildlife department were also present on the occasion.

Under the plant for Pakistan campaign, over 10 million trees would be planted in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan to mitigate the impacts of global warming and climate change. The forest officials while briefing the CM informed that mangroves would be planted in the coastal belt of Balochistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bizenjo directed the concerned authorities to take strict measures against the elements involved in deforestation in the province. “Deforestation would not be tolerated”, the CM said.

CM Balochistan asked the forest and wildlife department to take effective steps for the protection of the ancient juniper forest in Ziarat, the country’s famous tourist location. He stated that the protection of the forests in general and Ziarat and Kalat juniper forests were crucial to mitigate the impacts of global warming and climate change in Balochistan.

Chief Secretary Balochistan, Mathar Niaz Rana also kicked off the plant for Pakistan drive at the civil secretariat. Provincial secretaries and other high-ups were also present on the occasion. “Plant for Pakistan drive to mitigate the impacts of global warming”, Mr. Rana said.

The tree plantation campaign was also launched in Sibi, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Pishin, and other district headquarters of the province.
