YDA calls off strike in Balochistan hospitals after six months

QUETTA: After six months, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has called off its strike in government-run hospitals of the province. YDA made this announcement after successful negotiations with Balochistan health minister, Syed Ehsan Shah and the Secretary of Health Saleh Nasar on Tuesday.

“YDA has formally resumed services in all government-run hospitals”, Dr. Bahar Shah, the President of the YDA told a news conference. A large number of young doctors and health professionals were also present on the occasion.

“Government has accepted all genuine demands of the protesting doctors”, Syed Ehsan Shah, the Balochistan health minister said. He urged the doctors to serve the ailing humanity throughout the province.

Daily OPD in civil and BMCH hospitals is more than 10,000

Patients remained the worst sufferers of doctors’ strikes in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan. Only in civil hospital and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital (BMCH), the number of OPDs patients is 10,000.

“Now doctors have come back to serve the needy and deserving patients”, the minister of health stated. He said that the present government has taken a number of initiatives to improve the state of health conditions in Balochistan.

“Doctors will be serving the needy patients in Balochistan from tomorrow”, Dr. Bahar Shah said.
