Natural gas was discovered from a farmer’s tube well in Balochistan’s Barkhan district on Friday. Levies sources said a school teacher identified as Qasam Buzdar was digging land for a tube well when suddenly flames of gas appeared instead of water.

“Flames of fire could be seen from quite far away on the surface of the newly dug tube well”, Qasam Buzdar told local media. Mr. Buzdar and other residents of Marri Wah immediately informed the deputy commissioner Barkhan after the discovery of the natural gas.

Levies personnel reached the area soon after the discovery of gas on the directives of the deputy commissioner Barkhan, Abdullah Khoso. “There was a blast in the tube well and work was immediately suspended”, Levies sources said.

It was not immediately confirmed about the gas reservoirs of the natural gas in Barkhan district. However, the DC and other high-ups informed the provincial government regarding the discovery of natural gas in the district.

The video of the flames inside the tube well went viral on social media. Thousands of people watched the video. A black-bearded man speaks and describes the discovery of the natural gas in the tube well.

Balochistan has rich mineral and natural resources. Natural gas was discovered in Sui Tehsil of Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district in 1952. Gas supply started in various cities of the country in 1954.
