QUETTA: The wreckage of an unfortunate helicopter, which was on a floods relief operation found in Balochistan’s Musa Goth, Windar, and Lasbela on Tuesday afternoon, the military’s media wing said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement stated that all six officers including Commander 12 Corps, Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, Brigadier (Approved Major General), Amjad Hanif, Brigadier Muhammad Khalid, Major Saeed Ahmed, Major Muhammad Talha Manan and Naik Muddassar Nyaz martyred in the incident.

Bad weather conditions had caused the incident, the ISPR stated.

Lt. General Sarfaraz Ali among the martyred officers

Pakistan Army helicopter carrying six officers including the Commander 12 Corps Lt General Sarfaraz Ali went missing on Monday. The wreckage of the helicopter was found on Tuesday afternoon in Balochistan’s district Lasbela.

Condolences pour in

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the nation is deeply grieved by the martyrdom of Lt. General Sarfaraz Ali and 5 officers of the Pakistan Army. The Premier to social media network Twitter said that the officers were doing a sacred duty of providing relief to the flood-affected people.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo also expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic incident. In a statement, Mr. Bizenjo said the nation was aggrieved over such human loss.

Asif Ali Zardari

PPP co-chairperson and former president Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep grief and sorrow over the accident and prayed for the martyrs.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that his heart went out to the families of the martyrs. “May Almighty bless the martyrs with the highest ranks in Jannah and provide the aggrieved families with courage.”
